Le ragazze iniziarono ad urlare e Luman, sentì freddi brividi scorrergli lungo la schiena, perché capì che in quel momento si stava definendo il corso della sua vita.

Nel frattempo, il Colonnello, piacevolmente sconvolto da ciò che vede, scrive direttamente a Vernon Presley, spiegandogli che non ha avuto possibilità di raggiungere Bob Neal, ma ci tiene a fargli sapere che ha “un ottimo affare”, per le mani

Elvis si esibisce al Municipal Auditorium, New Orleans, LA, alle 16.00 e alle 20.15

Il tour termina con un’esibizione priva di inibizioni ed Elvis che viene premiato con le chiavi della città.

Poiché il Colonnello ha garantito ad Elvis $ 500 a show oppure $ 2.000 al giorno, in questo tour Elvis totalizza un guadagno di $ 20.000 oltre ad altri $7.500 di commissioni sulle vendite di souvenirs.

Harry Kalcheim invia un telegramma al Colonnello, informandolo di aver rifiutato l’offerta di $ 30.000 da parte di Dean Martin, per un’apparizione di Elvis al suo show nel mese di ottobre.

Dopo aver fatto disperata richiesta per avere un permesso speciale, Elvis riesce a partire per andare a trovare sua madre, che si trova in condizioni di salute, molto critiche.

Si sono concluse le riprese del film Girl Happy ed Elvis viene svincolato dallo studio
